Fintech · Remittance Platform

Universe Money Transfer

A FINTRAC-registered Canadian money services business shipped to iOS, Android, and web from one Flutter codebase. I owned the platform end to end, from solution design and estimation through deployment, production monitoring, and iteration.

  • Built the Interac e-Transfer reconciliation engine where no direct API existed at our scale: idempotent matching, duplicate detection, retry handling, and partial-match resolution against live money movement.
  • Integrated Sumsub KYC/AML verification into onboarding so every customer cleared identity checks before sending money, with 2FA, encryption, and audit records kept for FINTRAC compliance review.
  • Designed the PostgreSQL schemas and data layer on a serverless GCP and Firebase backend (Cloud Functions, Auth, FCM) to track real-time transaction state.
  • Caught and fixed a silent payment-matching bug in AI-generated code: a regex that failed to mark e-Transfers as paid when the memo had extra text.

  • Built a bank statement review tool (Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Drizzle) that flags large deposits and uses an LLM with schema-validated structured output to categorize them, routing invalid or low-confidence results to human review.
  • Designed an append-only schema for an auditable history of AI suggestions and reviewer decisions, with idempotent ingestion, a concurrency test and an evaluation harness for AI accuracy.
